Krampus Day/5th Anniversary 20% Off Sale
‘Tis the season to give records to beloved friends and family (and to yourself too.) In lieu of the madness of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, we prefer to observe Krampus Day (honoring the Central European folkloric anti-Santa critter), which this year, conveniently coincides with the 5th anniversary of PoB. Hard to believe that we released our very first record, Said I Had a Vision: Songs & Labels of David Lee, 1960-1988, a full five years ago.
To celebrate, all catalog items in the PoB store* will be discounted 20% through Sunday, December 6th. (*Please note that the discount does not apply to pre-order items or distributed titles.)
While supplies last, all physical orders through Sunday will also include a FREE PoB Late 2015 Sampler CD, featuring some perennial favorites from our catalog. (You can stream it below, or via Spotify.)
Video Premiere: Red River Dialect: “Great Eastern Sun”
December 5th also happens to be Repeal Day (recognizing the end of Prohibition in the U.S.), which seems a particularly apropos time to share some videos featuring the music of Red River Dialect and Gun Outfit.
Today we’re pleased to premiere the video for Red River Dialect‘s “Great Eastern Sun,” one of the hinges of their gorgeous, moving album Tender Gold and Gentle Blue. (The song also features Nathan Salsburg on guitar.) Directed by Ed Sanders and shot on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, this meditative, minimalist short film is a perfect, if unexpected, union of sound and image, rewarding your patience–watch it until the end to cleanse yourself of holiday doldrums and dread. Momentum and millennia!
And so ends our final transmission of 2015. Onwards, and Happy Holidays!
