Chance

Chance’s 1981 Countrydelic Masterpiece In Search Scheduled for July 16 Release.

PoB is delighted to join Johnny Cash’s longtime friend, visionary Nashville artist Chance Martin, in announcing the first-ever reissue of his 1981 private-press masterpiece. Ringleader, maestro, and indomitable troubadour of Nashville’s most private, elusive and exclusive far-out scene – the Dead End – Chance (aka Alamo Jones, the Voice in Black, aka the Stoned Ranger) could have stepped from the pages of a Charles Portis novel or Coen Bros. script.

Chance: In Search (PoB-007)

The first reissue of the 1981 private press countrydelic masterpiece by Johnny Cash’s friend and stage manager Chance Martin, In Search sounds like some unholy pot likker of Waylon and Funkadelic. Gatefold package includes 33 photos of the mythic Dead End Nashville scene, a download coupon, and a 13,000 word oral history with the storytelling artist.

In Search of Chance.

The Bachelors have just returned from a fruitful fieldwork visit to Nashville, Music City, USA, where we had the honor and privilege of spending several days with our friend Chance Martin (aka Alamo Jones, General Chance, the Stoned Ranger, and the Voice in Black), the mastermind, impresario, and visionary songwriter, bandleader, and singer behind the brilliant, unheralded countrydelic 1981 LP In Search, credited simply to Chance and released on his own Macho imprint.
