Krampus Day Sale 2022

Y’all, it’s been a while—we missed you. The end of 2022 has been a wild ride, and herein is its final Paradisiacal dispatch. ‘Tis the season to give records to beloved friends and family (and to yourself too). In lieu of the madness of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, we prefer to observe Krampus Day (honoring the Central European folkloric anti-Santa critter).

Goodbye, Goat; Hello, Monkey.

2015 (Year of the Goat) in all its splendor and magnificence is out the door, and 2016 (Year of the Monkey) is right around the corner. Seems only appropriate to reflect on things that were, round-up some additional year end list recognition, and propel us into this next age with some upcoming tour dates.

Happy Release Day to The Weather Station and Kenny Knight.

Today is a good day. Today we’re able to release two beautiful documents of deeply personal, movingly articulated North American songwriting: The Weather Station’s Loyalty and Kenny Knight’s Crossroads, which also happen to be our first releases with our supremely supportive new distributor Secretly Canadian Distribution. This is why we do what we do.

The Weather Station + Kenny Knight Albums Premiere via The NY Times + Stereogum.

Stream The Weather Station’s gorgeous album Loyalty via The NY Times and hear our reissue of Kenny Knight’s 1980 country-rock masterpiece Crossroads via Stereogum, a week before their May 12 release. Both records are available for purchase if you like what you hear. (You will like what you hear.) Pitchfork reviewed Loyalty, calling it “a 40-minute glimpse into a secret world.”

Stereogum Premieres Kenny Knight’s “Whiskey.”

Many thanks to Stereogum for premiering “Whiskey” from our upcoming reissue of Kenny Knight’s Crossroads, one of our very favorite songs on an album of indelible songs. This jittery head-nodder touches on some heavy darkness: an alcoholic’s lament about childhood drinking, drunk driving, a constant fear of death, and almost shitting your pants (seriously, it’s dark.)

Springtime in Paradise: New T-Shirts + New Distribution.

Due to popular demand, our PoB High Roller t-shirts are back in stock and ready to ship. We’re also thrilled to announce that, effective March 31, Paradise of Bachelors will be distributed exclusively worldwide by the fine folks at Secretly Canadian Distribution. Pre-orders are still rolling for our two May 12 releases–our first in collaboration with SCD–The Weather Station’s Loyalty and Kenny Knight’s Crossroads.

Kenny Knight: Crossroads (PoB-018)

The first-ever reissue of the private-press country-rock rarity by Colorado auto body painter, Marine, and garage band lifer Kenny Knight—he played in the original `60s Black Flag—Crossroads recalls a homebrew American Beauty-era Grateful Dead in its world-weary, low-key mood and indelible songwriting. Faded, anxious, melancholy, and lovely, this out-of-time document belies its 1980 release date.
