Our friends at Burger Records are releasing a cassette version of The Red Rippers album Over There … and Over Here, a moving and brutal new wave/boogie chronicle of songwriter Ed Bankston’s experiences in Vietnam and back home. We figured it was about time to share another song from our reissue of Over There … and Over Here by the Red Rippers. “Firefight” recounts a combat story told to songwriter Ed Bankston by a Marine and fellow Vietnam veteran after a show–he also gave Ed a killer peach cobbler recipe.

Paradise of Bachelors presents the first-ever reissue of the previously obscure 1983 LP by the Red Rippers. Written and recorded by Navy pilot Ed Bankston, the album’s nine battle-scarred country-boogie/psych dispatches chronicle the experiences of Bankston and his fellow vets during the Vietnam War and back home.
