As 2018 comes to a close, we are proud to look back on a year of seven new PoB releases and feel honored to have worked with so many inspiring artists. Proud sensations! - Nathan Bowles: Plainly Mistaken was one of New Yorker critic (and favorite PoB writer) Amanda Petrusich’s Top 10 Albums of 2018. Hear her discuss what makes this album so unique on WNYC’s New Yorker Radio Hour and on Red Bull Radio (where she also played and praised Nap Eyes). She calls Nathan’s “rich, mesmeric banjo playing … the perfect mix of Roscoe Holcomb and La Monte Young.” The album also appears on MOJO editor John Mulvey’s personal year end list.
- Jennifer Castle: Angels of Death is #2 on Exclaim’s Top 10 Folk albums of 2018, #4 on Now Toronto’s Top 10 best Toronto albums of 2018, #79 on New Commute’s Albums of the Year, and #4 on NOW Toronto’s The 10 Best Tonronto Albums. Also featured on Slate’s The Best Albums of 2018. “Grim Reaper” comes in at #87 on The FADER’s The 100 Best Songs of 2018,
- Nap Eyes: I’m Bad Now was featured on Rolling Stone’s 11 Great Albums You Probably Didn’t Hear in 2019.
- Nap Eyes: I’m Bad Now, Jennifer Castle: Angels of Death, Mind Over Mirrors: Bellowing Sun and Nathan Bowles: Plainly Mistaken were all featured in Aquarium Drunkard’s revelatory and wide-ranging 2018 Year In Review.
