THE WEATHER STATION IN PARADISE
As PoB eases into a 2015 ripe with some long-brewing and inspiring projects, we can think of no finer way to inaugurate this New Year than to share the very exciting news that The Weather Station, the spellbinding musical project of Toronto songwriter Tamara Lindeman, has officially joined the PoB family. Stay tuned for more details about the Spring release of her third record, entitled Loyalty and recorded in France in collaboration with Afie Jurvanen (Bahamas) and Robbie Lackritz (Feist). (The Weather Station will be working with our friends at Outside Music on the Canadian release.) In the meantime, you can read more about Tamara and her music here and watch a video of a recent live performance on the CBC below.
JAKE XERXES FUSSELL RECORD RELEASE PARTY (w/Daniel Bachman)
Jake Xerxes Fussell‘s debut self-titled record, produced by and featuring William Tyler, in stores January 27, is our first release of 2015, and it is a marvel, ten arcane folk/blues songs transmuted into cosmic laments and crooked riverine rambles. If you haven’t heard “Raggy Levy“–featured in Uncut magazine this month along with a rave 8/10 review–check it out, and preorder the album, here.
PRE-ORDER LP ($18), CD ($13), OR BOTH ($25) BELOW
Jake just moved to Durham, North Carolina from Oxford, Mississippi, and we’re delighted to have him here, particularly to celebrate the release of his record on Friday, Jan. 30 at 5:30pm at the University of North Carolina’s Center for the Study of the American South in Chapel Hill. Click here for details and directions to this special FREE event, which will feature sets by both Jake and fellow Durhamite Daniel Bachman, as well as some serious food and drink.
2014 has been kind to us; let’s raise a glass to the New Age.
