STEVE GUNN ANNOUNCES 2015 TOUR DATES IN SUPPORT OF WAY OUT WEATHER

“One of the most underrated songwriters working today gives us a potent flashback to vintage Grateful Dead.” – NPR Music on “Milly’s Garden,” “Favorite Songs of 2014”

“Gunn’s playing is as precise as it is circular, always taking us back home before we get sick for it.” – Pitchfork on “Milly’s Garden,” “The 100 Best Tracks of 2014”

“A singer-songwriter of note and weight, delivering an album of extra-width back-porch Americana psych-folk grooves that brought to mind the cosmic sonic heaviness of everyone from Robert Plant and Tinariwen to John Fahey and the Grateful Dead.” – MOJO, ranked #6 in “50 Best Albums Of 2014”

“It moves with a blend of head-down purpose and furtive apprehension–an apt soundtrack for a world where you need to keep one eye on the street and one eye on the weather.” – The Wire, ranked #12 Album of the Year in Rewind 2014

Way Out Weather is a tour de force filled with a seemingly endless array of awesome guitar tones, fantastic interplay and powerful songwriting.” – Aquarium Drunkard, “2014 Year In Review”

“[Gunn’s] playing is so good, so fluid that it combines with the music’s other elements– propulsive drumming, phasers and delay pedals, Gunn’s minimally expressive vocals– to become a unified sonic whole: a blissed-out and detached color-field, as opposed Manassas’s busy, artist-driven action painting: experiential, subjective, psychedelic, sublime.” -AdHoc, “Our Favorite Albums of 2014”

“Philadelphia-born guitarist Steve Gunn has quickly become one of the foremost players of his generation, skilled yet never flashy.” – The Wall Street Journal

“Way Out Weather, is the type of transcendent rock explosion that makes you feel like you’re swirling through space and time, images of dandelion fields and amber waves of grain, and you know, America, all lazing by your eyes.” – The Philadelphia Inquirer

“A child of hair metal and a student of drone, Gunn is sounding more and more like a guitar guru for a new age.” – Washington Post

As 2014 comes to a close, praise for Steve Gunn’s phenomenal album, Way Out Weather, released this past October, continues to pour in. The album has received year-end best of 2014 recognition from many publications, including NPR Music, Pitchfork, Aquarium Drunkard, Magnet, and Mojo, who ranked the album #6 in their “50 Best Albums Of 2014.”

Today, we’re excited to announce Steve’s first run of tour dates in 2015, some of which will be with our pal Ryley Walker. Steve will be making stops at both AeroFest and Big Ears Festival, before heading back to Brooklyn for a hometown show at Baby’s All Right on Wednesday, April 1st. Gunn (vocals, guitar) will be joined for the US tour by Nathan Bowles (drums), and Jason Meagher (bass). He’ll be playing with his righteous Belgian band for the May UK and Ireland dates.
