“[The Weather Station] artfully transcended her folk background, rocking out a little without ever losing intimacy or focus, or detracting from the precision and valence of the exceptional poetry with which she stocked her songs.”Uncut, #4 Album of the Year

“The cathartic use of ‘f**king’ in The Weather Station’s rootsy, ambling lilt ‘Thirty’ ranks among the greatest profanities in music this year” – SPIN, Best Albums of 2017

“Tamara Lindeman has both Joni Mitchell’s vocal manner and clarity of perception—and clarity is, as it turns out, the subject of [“Thirty”’s] rambling paean to humble, unflashy happiness.”The Atlantic, Great Songs of 2017

“this is the finest, most elegant and severe record from an artist who is only beginning to spread her wings.” – Uproxx, Best Albums of 2017

“She finds strength in specificity, and comes into her own on The Weather Station as one of the most literate and true voices in modern folk rock.” – Aquarium Drunkard, 2017 Year In Review

The Weather Station (aka Toronto’s Tamara Lindeman) ended 2017 on a high note receiving year-end accolades from the likes of Uncut, New Yorker, SPIN, NPR Music, Uproxx, Stereogum and beyond for her self-titled album, out now on Paradise of Bachelors. While on tour last fall, Lindeman (guitar, vocals) and band—Ben Whiteley (bass), Ian Kehoe (drums), and William Kidman (guitar)—stopped by NPR Music for an excellent Tiny Desk Concert performance. Here she performed album singles “Thirty” and “You and I (On The Other Side Of The World),” alongside standout track “Free.”

“The Weather Station’s fourth (and self-titled) album was a constant companion for me in 2017, in no small part for the song that opens the band’s Tiny Desk performance. It’s called “Thirty” and in less than four minutes and nearly 400 words, singer Tamara Lindeman paints images of joy intertwined with the awaking jolt of turning thirty.” – Bob Boilen, NPR Music
