We’re excited to welcome to Paradise of Bachelors Mr. James Elkington, whose masterful guitar playing and arranging you’ve certainly heard, even if you didn’t realize it. (You may not have heard his elegiac singing, but you will soon.)

An inveterate collaborator who brings his lyrical compositional and improvisational sensibilities to any group, Jim (an Englishman living in Chicago) has been the other guitarist in Steve Gunn’s band since Way Out Weather. He has also toured and/or recorded with Michael Chapman (on 50), Nathan Salsburg (on Ambsace), Jeff Tweedy, Richard Thompson, Joan Shelley, Tortoise, Brokeback, just to name a few of his many enthusiastic admirers.

Stay tuned for more information soon on his long-awaited debut solo album, which is a colossal, assured statement.

Jim plays tonight, Feb. 22, at The Hideout in Chicago with fellow PoB artist Jake Xerxes Fussell. You can read the Chicago Reader’s preview of that show here.

Catch Jim again this weekend, opening for Wilco at the Chicago Theatre on Feb. 25 and 26. (Comrade Jake Xerxes Fussell will also be opening for Wilco at the Chicago Theatre on Feb. 23, and at the Beacon Theatre in New York on March 21 and 22.)

Welcome, Jim!
